Where are you from? Please tell us about yourself!

Perú Lima - working as an Au pair - I like swimming and doing sports! I love to do yoga. I alsolove to cook and I would like to continue living in Germany but by myself.

Where in Germany did you choose to move to?

Hamburg - because I really like it and I found a beautiful family here. I would like to do an FSJ so I’m looking for different options so I could move anywhere. I’m excited about finding an FSJ and start living by myself with more privacy.

Has it been difficult so far? Do you like Hamburg?

Yes, it was difficult. Everything is new. Sometimes, I miss my family and friends. It’s not easy find work here, and to study is important to have a good level in German. Yes, I found a delicious sushi place call Tsubaki. I made some friends but they are going to move to other cities soon. I’m happy but I would like to find better opportunities.

How are the people in Hamburg different from the people in Peru?

It is very different here. People are more traditional and sometimes they are very direct. And about the food, well, where I live, they eat a lot of cheese and cream. I’m lactose intolerant, so it’s not easy!

How's the cost of living there?

It is expensive. Studying is also expensive and if you want to eat out, you actually need to have a good salary. Private Universities are expensive, so if you wanna study in a public university, you need to be C1 in German.

Have you enrolled in a German language course? How about speaking to the locals?

I was studying A2 in VHS, but I didn't continue. I was doing online because it was cheaper, but I don't my think that my German improved.

Yes, I’m speaking with locals because the family who I live with speak most of the time only in German. And sometimes when I don’t understand, they speak in English.

How's your experience been with Deutsch Gym?

I didn’t try it yet. I would like to try and see how it is because I have seen good reviews. So I’m going to try and see how is it because I would like to improve my German and become fluent.
