So, you need a Munich cafe to work at with your laptop. Well, good for you—I’m listing down 7 of them!

All these cafes have Wi-Fi and electric sockets, allowing you to work productively for hours.

As a remote worker myself, I know the struggle of looking for a place to get your daily tasks done. I travel a lot, and anywhere I go, I’m always looking for coffee shops conducive to laptop use.

I’ve been to each of these Munich work cafes just this year, so I can give you a detailed review of the places. (Oh and here’s the laptop-friendly cafe lists for Berlin, Hamburg, and Frankfurt).

All right, let’s go: the best cafes Munich has for laptop work!

Story Café München

Google Maps

Augustenstraße 29, 80333 München

Area: Maxvorstadt

Sockets: Yes

Story Café München is the only cafe I’ve ever been to where they have separate areas for people who want to work with laptops and those who are just there to dine.

I was honestly quite impressed! And it’s a great place to work too. Wi-Fi is reliable, there are a good amount of sockets, and the interior is nice and relaxing.

The food and drinks are decent. Nothing special, but they’re priced well and it’ll power you through long hours on your laptop.

Since they specifically cater to laptop workers, you have everything you need here. If I had to pick, it’s probably the best work cafe Munich has to offer.

The only downside is that everybody knows about it and it’s in Maxvorstadt, where a lot of Munich’s universities are. So you’ll be working with a lot of other people.

Mackbear Coffee CO. Munich

Google Maps

Leopoldstraße 44, 80802 München

Area: Schwabing-Freimann

Sockets: Yes

If you want decent Wi-Fi, Mackbear has you.

If you want wall sockets, Mackbear also has you.

If you want one of the best coffee shops Munich has in terms of coffee, Mackbear also has you.

Well, at least if you like your coffee strong. They really serve some of the strongest coffee I’ve tasted in quite a while! It’ll definitely keep you awake for work! Not to mention that the cup sizes are relatively larger compared to other cafes I’ve been to.

As for the pastries, I never tried them. They were quite expensive.

The best part is that as far as I know, and in my experience, there weren’t too many people. So you’ll get some peace and quiet to focus on your work.

Overall, it’s my go-to along with with Story Café.

Café Lehel

Google Maps

Liebigstraße 10A, 80538 München

Area: Altstadt-Lehel

Sockets: Yes

Next up: Café Lehel.

Not much to say here. It’s an overall great work cafe option with sockets, fast Wi-Fi, and other people working for long hours on their laptops (so you won’t be judged).

The coffee is forgettable, to be honest, but the cake I ordered was pretty good. (I forgot what kind of cake I ordered though, so I guess it’s forgettable too).

They unfortunately don’t serve any kind of meal or other filling snacks though, so it’s best to come here with a full stomach.

Vits Kaffee GmbH & Co.KG

Google Maps

Rumfordstraße 49, 80469 München

Area: Altstadt-Lehel

Sockets: A few

Vits Kaffee is one of the most popular and best cafes Munich has in its downtown area.

The coffee is good. The food is great as well - they even serve some international dishes like Thailand’s Pad Kra Pao (highly recommended by the way). Although I think the pastries were so-so.

As for working: there’s free Wi-Fi, but there are only a few sockets.

And since the place is popular, it does get somewhat busy, so some buzz while you work (or to run out of seats with sockets). The service is also rather slow, though still friendly, given the amount of people.

Coffee Fellows

Google Maps

Tal 33, 80331 München

Area: Altstadt-Lehel (Old Town)

Sockets: Yes

And should you find that you don’t have sockets at Vits Kaffee, you can just take a five-minute walk to the Coffee Fellows branch in Old Town.

It’s a chain with many branches in Munich, although the one on Tal street linked above is the one I’ve been to the most.

The Wi-Fi is decently quick and there are a lot of power outlets available. There was always one free whenever I went there.

Coffee and food are so-so and so are the prices. Decent enough to power through a few hours of laptop work. Plus the seats are very cozy!

It would be a strong contender for the best laptop-friendly cafe Munich has to offer if not for the distracting music they keep playing. Just bring noise-cancelling earphones, I guess.

I’ve been to their branch on Schillerstraße too and it’s more of the same, though with fewer sockets.

Coffeemamas Café

Google Maps

Lindwurmstraße 46, 80337 München

Area: Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt

Sockets: Yes

Coffeemamas is a cute and cozy cafe.

There are sockets, but the Wi-Fi was weird. I’ve been here twice. On the first day, it was working without any hiccups. But during the second time around, it was rather inconsistent. I had to use my mobile internet to download some files.

The coffee is good, but the food is mediocre. Nothing to complain about given the lower prices though! The staff was friendly, though it did take an eyebrow-raising amount of time to get my bagel ready.

It is a fairly small place, but it was never really packed in my experience. They even have some magazines available for reading too if your eyes need a break from looking at digital text.

Lost Weekend

Google Maps

Schellingstraße 3, 80799 München

Area: Maxvorstadt

Sockets: Some

Lost Weekend is highly accessible with the U-Bahn, being just a stone throw’s away from the Universität station.

It has a very hipster-artsy-political vibe. It’s definitely aesthetically striking, but not exactly the most fitting atmosphere for work. Also because they play music on the speakers. Again, just bring earphones!

They have an all-vegan menu for food. I ordered their BBQ Crunch Wrap and found it decently good, even if I’m not vegan myself. The coffee was all right.

The Wi-Fi was good, though sockets are limited. Again, since you’re in Maxvorstadt, you’ll be competing with a lot of students for those sockets.

It’s also a bar and an events place it gets even more packed with the students at night. So go here early if you plan to work here (unless you want to be on your laptop with a stand-up comedian in the background).
