Welcome - I'm Rónán!

I moved to Berlin 6 years ago without a word of German - well, I knew Schnitzel.

I somehow managed to go a full year without taking any lessons - a common experience among many who move to Germany.

Everything was in English! My work, roomates spoke it, my social life.

So it was comfortable. But something felt off.

Eventually I enrolled in intensive courses for months which was life changing.

But we did not speak a lot in the lessons. So 2 months in, I organised online groups so I could practice in the evenings. This helped my German massively - I started to really speak it.

I became confident.

It snowballed from there - more and more people joined and it eventually became Deutsch Gym!
